A note from Wig Stylist and Director, Michelle Landrum:

As a young child I watched a lot of old Hollywood movies with Beautiful Black women as lead characters.

We know it wasn’t acceptable back then to wear our crowns of coils and curls and we often fried, dyed and laid it to the side;

mostly in early Hollywood (1910’s-1950’s). Not until the 1970’s did you see us rockin’ bold Afro’s with attitudes to match.

One day in 2024 I got a vision of how these women would have worn their hair in its natural state.

And my creative process began to unfold.

I created these reimagined looks to honor these Beautiful Black women and their resilience to do what they had to do and why we get to do what we do.

My hope with this collection of Photos, Afros, and Fashion inspire you to rock your crowns and understand how amazingly beautiful and resilient we are.

My last hope is that you learn more about these iconic women. They might inspire you like they inspired me.
